Survivor Season 2
The second season of the CBS reality TV, game adventure show was named as the Survivor: The Australian Outback and was shot extensively in 2000 at Herbert River at Goshen Station, located in northern Queensland and was just three hours drive away from the coastal city of Cairns (which is in the south - west of Goshen Station), the whole area being a wet, sub-tropical area. It was broadcasted weekly from 28th January, 2001 up till 3rd May, 2001, totaling around fourteen episodes.
This season achieved record viewer ship and was declared by the Nielsen Rating as the top most show of the year, 2001. On 26th April, 2005, the DVDs of the full season were also released.
The sixteen contestants were earlier divided into two tribes, Kucha and Ogakor and later merged into one, by the name of Barramundi. By a small margin of 4-3, registered nurse Tina Wesson won the title of Sole Survivor as well the grand prize money over the runner up, car designer and actor Colby Donaldson.
The season had the very first instance in the Survivor’s history when a participant left the show due to injuries. This happened in the case of Michael Skupin on the sixth episode, when he tried to light up a fire, and in the process inhaled in smoke which led him getting unconscious.
