Survivor Season 3
The third season of the very famous CBS reality TV adventure game show Survivor was named Survivor: Africa. Shot in August 2001, the show was broadcasted from 11th October, 2001, up till 10th January, 2002. The whole season was set on African continent, in Kenya’s Shaba National Reserve.
The tribes, first formed were named after two really existing tribes, Boran and Samburu and hence were called Boran and Samburu. In what was later termed as the first ever twist in the Survivor’s history, on the fifth episode, that is after about twelve days, from each tribe, three players were swapped with the other one. This sprung up a surprise and was an indication to the contestants to expect some very spontaneous surprises, some thing which was repeated on the following seasons as well. Later there was a merger and this new tribe was called Moto Maji.
This season also marked the first instance of a tie breaker challenge. In the earlier season, the player with the maximum number of previous votes was chucked out in such circumstances. In this season, Carl Bilancione and Lindsey Richter, in their first tribal council itself, got four votes each, and they both were subsequently asked to compete in a nature quiz tie breaker, the winner of which, would being the one saved.
Another very interesting feature of this season was the season finale, where the production team made it look that the final votes were being revealed at the Final Tribal Council Site, instantly when the votes were put. The host, Jeff Probst, too moved to obtain the voting urn and he came back, to what looked like the Tribal Council so as to announce the vote tally[Read More....]
